The Office of Sheriff is a statutory office with mandates by state legislation; the basic function mandated by the State of Colorado is to provide law enforcement services to the unincorporated areas of Gunnison County.
The mission of the Gunnison County Sheriff’s Office is to provide public safety, law enforcement, victim advocacy, community service, and detention services to the public so they can live, play, and work in a safe and secure environment.

The Gunnison County Sheriff's Office is located inside the Public Safety Center at 510 Bidwell Avenue in Gunnison, Colorado.
Directions from West Highway 50:
Turn right (by the Day's Inn and Alpine Inn Hotels) onto Rio Grande Avenue, continue past the Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport, and turn left onto Boulevard. The next right will be Bidwell Avenue. The Public Safety Center is approximately one block further on the left-hand side of the road.

Turn left onto Boulevard Avenue, continue down the street (approximately three blocks) and then turn left onto Bidwell Avenue. The Public Safety Center is approximately one block further on the left-hand side of the road.
