​Recycling Worker
The Gunnison County Public Works Department is now accepting applications for a full time opening at the Recycling Center. The position will be 40 hours per week, and will include weekend work. Employee will be entitled to full benefit package. Applicant must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License and be able to frequently lift 50 pounds. Applicant must be able to work outside in all types of weather. Duties will include crushing glass, baling cardboard, tin, plastic, newspaper, office paper, and aluminum. During processing materials must be monitored for quality control. Equipment used includes a glass crusher, baler, and skidster loader.

Full Job Description

Detention Officer I
The Gunnison County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for the position of Detention Deputy I. Minimum requirements: 21 years of age; high school graduate or GED; valid Colorado driver’s license; no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions; able to work various shifts. Must be able to communicate in English, both written and orally and have computer proficiency and demonstrated ability to work effectively with Microsoft Office software. Must be able to perform work requiring good physical condition. Primary duties for the Detention Deputy I are: processing pretrial and sentenced prisoners into the detention center; supervising pretrial and sentenced prisoners in daily activities; escorting prisoners to and from court appearances, medical appointments; transporting prisoners to and from other counties across the state; and working with other law enforcement agencies and the public. Individual initiative and team interaction skills are a must.

Starting salary is $3,025/mo. with possible 5% increase at the 6 month mark of a one year probationary period. Also included is a fringe benefit package.

 ​Administrative Assistant II   
Gunnison County Department of Health and Human Services seeks a qualified person to fill a 35 hour/week Administrative Assistant position. The successful candidate will assist with departmental administrative and front office functions, to assure efficient client enrollment in public assistance programs, and provide general customer service. May assist clients with online application process, assure verifications are obtained, and schedule any necessary phone or in-person interviews. Will provide direct support to Eligibility Technicians and other staff members and perform file and document management.

Education and Experience required: High School diploma or equivalent; at least one year of work in an office setting, preferably the public sector in a human services area. Computer skills are necessary, Spanish language skill is preferred.
