The Gunnison River remains closed from Almont to the County Road 10 location. Although it is anticipated that the peak runoff has been realized in relationship to river travel, actually, the river level is higher. The East River is higher due to a late runoff and extreme snow depths in the high country. The Taylor Reservoir is releasing 1030 cfs currently and it is anticipated that this number will reach 1,400 cfs within the next couple days. The Gunnison River will then be well over 4,500 cfs. End result is that this is still well over safety considerations for travel under a bridge which is located between Almont and the County Road 10. May I remind folks that both banks of the river at the County Road 10 Bridge are privately owned and that I have no authority to grant or deny access to or from the Gunnison River at that juncture. Anyone that does put in or take out at that location must have permission from the land owners or be subjected to possible trespass charges.
