7th Judicial District Community Corrections Board

Board Member (County's Appointee) Appointed Term Expiration
Don Wills   06/2012

The 7th Judicial District Community Corrections Board was formed in 1986 by Joint Resolution 36-85 of the six Boards of County Commissioners. This resolution provides for a 15 member board. The mandated positions are the Chief Judge, the District Attorney, the Public Defender, Chief Probation Officer and a Sheriff from the District. Non-mandated positions include 4 citizens at large and 1 representative for each county to be appointed by that Board of County Commissioners.

Authority for the establishment of a Community Corrections Board is provided for by Colorado Revised Statute (CRS) 17-27-103. This statute provides that the local corrections board has the power to oversee community corrections in that district and to accept or reject an offender for placement in any facility located within that jurisdiction. A decision to reject an offender cannot be overridden by any order of the court.

The Seventh Judicial District Community Corrections Board currently meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the Montrose County Sheriff’s office at 11:30am. The meetings are open to the public. Follow this link for all contact information for the current Community Corrections Board Members.
