What is CSU Cooperative Extension of Gunnison County?

The Colorado State University Cooperative Extension of Gunnison County is a three-way partnership between the Gunnison County Government, Colorado State University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The mission of Cooperative Extension is to provide information and education, and to encourage the application of research-based knowledge in response to local, state, and national issues affecting individuals, youth, families, agricultural enterprises and communities of Gunnison County and Colorado.

What Does Extension Do?

The Gunnison County Extension Office organizes educational programs and provides research-based information about a wide variety of topics, including agriculture, livestock production and marketing, small acreage management, weed management, horticulture and gardening, soil and water testing, public health issues, nutrition, cooking, food safety, child care, financial management, family and child development, and more.  Extension also leads 4-H and other youth development programs in Gunnison County.
