Within the next 30-60 days Gunnison County will be soliciting bids for gravel crushing at a newly developed pit on the west side of Kebler Pass, known as the Watson Flats Pit.
The scope of work in the bid solicitation will include:
- Mobilization of crushing equipment to and from the pit;
- Crushing an indefinite amount of gravel to a Forest Service specification (amount of gravel crushed will be determined by cost per ton);
- Crush no less than 5,000 ton of CDOT Class 6 aggregate, and 2,000 ton of CDOT Class 5 aggregate;
- Forest Service and County material must be stockpiled separately;
- Gunnison County will remove all over burden prior to crushing;
- Contractor will be required to blend material to meet required specification;
- Contractor will be required to obtain all necessary permits;

Contractor will be required to keep all operations within designated pit development areas.
Because this pit is under development we want to solicit information regarding adequacy of the pit for crushing operations from potential bidders prior to soliciting bids. For that reason we are conducting a mandatory pre-bid conference on September 13, 2010, at 1:00 PM.
The pit is located just past the 11 mile marker on the west side of Kebler Pass. The entrance of the pit will be marked for your convenience.
