The Section 8 Rental Assistance program provides housing subsidy for qualified applicants who locate rental units in the private market with participating landlords. Under this program, the applicant pays approximately 30 percent of his/her adjusted income for rent and utilities. The housing authority pays the balance of the fair market rent to the private landlord. Non-resident tenants in this program are required to live in Gunnison County for the first twelve months of their participation. The Gunnison County Housing Authority screens all applicants for rental and criminal history.

The Gunnison County Housing Authority shall not deny any family or individual the opportunity to apply for or receive assistance under HUD’s Housing Choice Voucher Program on account of race, color, sex, religion, creed, national or ethnic origin, age, family or marital status, or disability.

Mountain View Apartments is for low- and moderate-income seniors & disabled persons. Rent is based on income and includes utilities. Community room for resident parties and family gatherings. Resident managers, coin-operated laundry on-site, elevator, secure entrances.

Stallion Park Condominiums at Buckhorn Ranch are available for rent to low-income to moderate-income people. Located three miles south of Crested Butte, the two-bedroom, one-bath units feature private decks, heated garages and storage spaces, as well as mountain views. Pets are allowed with a deposit.
