Offices of Planning, Building & Environmental Health

The Gunnison County Community Development Department includes three offices: Current planning (land use permitting), Building, and Environmental Health. The Department is primarily responsible for ensuring that land uses within the county are developed and maintained in compliance with the County's adopted codes and regulations,and overseeing permit reviews for those uses. The Department is responsible for issuing Building Permits, Individual Sewage Disposal System Permits and Land Use Change Permits, and a variety of other more specialized permits.

We are upstairs in the Blackstock Government Center building (across from the U.S. Post Office)in Gunnison.

Long-range Planning is located in the Geographic Information Services Department in the Gunnison County Courthouse, 200 E. Virginia, in Gunnison. Hard copies of Comprehensive Plans that have been completed for specific areas are available for review there, or may be viewed online here:

The Planning Commission meeting room, upstairs in the Blackstock Government Center across from the Community Development Department, is available for public use at no charge when it is not scheduled for use by Gunnison County groups. Contact Beth Baker, bbaker@gunnisoncounty.org to reserve it.
