The Gunnison County Community Development Department includes three offices: Current planning (land use permitting), Building, and Environmental Health. The Department is primarily responsible for ensuring that land uses within the county are developed and maintained in compliance with the County's adopted codes and regulations, and overseeing permit reviews for those uses. The Department is responsible for issuing Building Permits, Individual Sewage Disposal System Permits and Land Use Change Permits, and a variety of other more specialized permits.

We are upstairs in the Blackstock Government Center building (across from the U.S. Post Office)in Gunnison.

Long-range Planning is located in the Geographic Information Services Department in the Gunnison County Courthouse, 200 E. Virginia, in Gunnison. Hard copies of Comprehensive Plans that have been completed for specific areas are available for review there, or may be viewed online here:

Our public computer monitor is available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-F, upstairs outside our meeting room. Here you can access our Building, Individual Sewage Disposal System and Land Use Change Permit databases, the databases for the County Assessor's and County Clerk and Recorder's Offices, and searchable copies of County regulations that are administered by the Community Development Department.
