Mission
The mission of the Assessor’s Office is to accurately, fairly, and equitably value all property in Gunnison County and to provide:
- The certification of values to school districts, municipalities, county government and service districts so they can establish budgets to fund public services,
- The tax warrant to the Gunnison County Treasurer so property tax bills can be delivered timely,
- The Abstract of Assessment to the State of Colorado so the administration and legislature can make informed decisions related to property taxation matters, and
- Accurate assessment and property ownership information to Gunnison County property owners so they understand and have confidence in the assessment process

Purpose & Organizational Functions
The purpose of the Finance & Human Resources Department is to provide accounting, auditing, planning, and analysis services to the County organization and the public so they can make informed decisions, provide fiscally responsible management, and demonstrate and experience accountable County government.
The Finance Program is responsible for all general accounting functions as well as the coordination of the budget process and the annual audit. This department serves to provide necessary financial and administrative services to all county departments including accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant accounting and reporting, and payroll processing.

State and county Veteran Service officers assist Veterans, their dependents, and their survivors in obtaining the state and federal benefits for which they are qualified for.
County Veteran Service Officers are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to serve the Veterans of their respective counties. They receive their training, accreditation, and technical support though the state’s Division of Veterans Services.
