SNAP Benefit Information and Resources
This page was developed to keep the community informed and updated on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), to provide a current list of resources available, and also includes information on how the community can help those who may be food insecure. The information listed above can be found in the tabbed sections below.

• Updated 11/13: November SNAP benefits will be issued in full, with the process beginning today. Call the number on the back of your EBT card to check your benefits balance. For full details on what we know, refer to the update at the top.
• Updated 11/13: The federal government shutdown is over, and will begin the process of reopening soon.
• Medicaid benefits are not affected and will continue as usual for November.
• WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) funding is secured through November. For more information and updates, visit https://www.coloradowic.gov/alerts
• Gunnison County is not aware of any impacts on Medicaid, TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), and other cash programs, WIC (Women, Infants, and Children), currently.

Applications can be filled out and submitted through the Gunnison Country Food Pantry. The Gunnison Country Food Pantry is the only pick-up location in Gunnison County. |

Gunnison Valley Basics Needs Guide
Walk-In Wednesdays: When you're in a crisis (or even when you're not), seeking out the resources you need can be challenging. That's where Walk-In Wednesday can help! With no appointment necessary, staff at Health & Human Services are available to help you explore the wide variety of resources we offer. Resources offered through Health & Human Services include food assistance, basic needs, utility assistance, Health First Colorado, multicultural resources, clinician services, health and wellness, and more. Staff can assist with identifying appropriate programs based on the need and help you connect with and apply for services. (English flyer) (Spanish flyer)

Mental Health Support
988 Colorado Mental Health Line- This service is available for free, immediate, human support 24/7. If you or someone you know is struggling with an emotional, mental health, or substance use concern, call or text 988 today. They’re there to listen. Call 911 for Emergencies.
CB State of Mind- This nonprofit organization is a mental health wellness connection. They have free community connection events, can connect you with resources, and provide therapy scholarships. Visit their website to see all the resources they help connect people with, as well as their events calendar.

Axis Health System- This organization provides behavioral health services at its Gunnison location, which includes mental health, substance use, case management, and psychiatry. They also have a wide variety of group counseling options that can be accessed in-person or virtually. A comprehensive list of services can be found on their website.

Gunnison Valley Health Behavioral Health Department- Gunnison Valley Health’s Behavioral Health Department offers a diverse range of services designed to address the specific behavioral health needs of the Gunnison Valley. Through our service offerings and strong community partnerships, Gunnison Valley Health provides both clinical and supportive services to address a broad spectrum of needs.

To donate funds or food to the local food pantries and food banks directly, read on below. Donations made to Feeding Colorado, the partner state association of the five Feeding America food banks serving Colorado and Wyoming, will help get funds to the 5 member food banks in Colorado. To make a local impact, donate local!

Volunteer Opportunities at Food Pantries
Gunnison Country Food Pantry- Visit their Volunteer website for more information and who to contact with questions. To provide the food pantry with extra help during their extended hours for Nov. 3-16, you can fill out a form that lists specific dates and times- click here.

If you are unable to connect with an organization outside of their operating hours, call Health & Human Services at (970) 641-3244 Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) between 9 am and 4 pm for emergency assistance.
