OWTS Contractor License
Septic installers in unincorporated Gunnison County are required to submit this online septic installer agreement and be licensed in Gunnison County.
Septic cleaners in unincorporated Gunnison County are required to submit this online septic cleaner agreement.
NOTE: Contractors that are both installers and cleaners will need to submit both agreements above.

The National Association of Wastewater Technicians (NAWT) certification course for both installers and cleaners is completed through the Colorado Professionals in Onsite Wastewater (CPOW) for classes and testing- Link CPOW Link NAWT
To take the Gunnison County OWTS installer test, you will be required to:
- Complete the NAWT certification course
- Pass the NAWT test
- Have proof of NAWT certification

OWTS Installer License
- No person shall install, alter, or repair an OWTS unless he or she holds a valid OWTS Installer license issued by the Department
- No OWTS Installer license shall be issued until the applicant who takes and passes the Department's written OWTS Installer examination and provides documentation of completion of the National Association of Wastewater Technicians (NAWT) Installers Course or approved equivalent.
- Each holder of an OWTS Installer license valid at the effective date of these Regulations shall provide documentation of completion of the National Association of Wastewater Technicians (NAWT) Installers Course or approved equivalent in order to renew their license on the 2020 license renewal schedule.
- Application for OWTS Installer licenses or renewals shall be made on forms supplied by the Department.
- Prior to the renewal of a license, the Department may require the applicant to demonstrate adequate knowledge of these Regulations. This may include, but is not limited to, passing an exam prepared by the Department or attending educational courses.
- Licenses shall expire on January 31st of each year. A license which lapses because of failure to renew shall be subject to the exam and fee established for a new license upon reapplication.
OWTS Cleaner License
- No person shall engage in the cleaning of OWTS Systems or the transportation of sewage to a disposal site unless he or she holds a valid OWTS Cleaner license issued by the Department.
- No OWTS Cleaner license shall be issued until the applicant provides documentation of completion, for themselves and all vacuum truck technicians employed by the applicant, of the NAWT Vacuum Truck Course or the NAWT Operation and Maintenance 1 Course or approved equivalent.
- Each holder of an OWTS Cleaner license valid at the effective date of these Regulations shall provide documentation of completion, for themselves and all vacuum truck technicians employed by the license holder, of the NAWT Vacuum Truck Course or the NAWT Operation and Maintenance 1 Course or approved equivalent in order to renew their license on the 2020 license renewal schedule.

Fees
A non-refundable fee in the amount set forth by the Board shall be required of applicants for systems contractor and systems cleaner licenses. The fee shall be payable to the Department at the time the license application is made. The fee may be adjusted from time to time by the Board. The current fees are identified in Appendix A.
